Lewis Hamilton discussed his involvement in team meetings and the development of W15 during the seventh race weekend of the season at Imola Circuit.
Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes after the final race of the 2024 season at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
This means that he could possibly take valuable, up-to-date information from Mercedes to Ferrari with him, even though Silver Arrows seem to be struggling a lot at the moment.
Consequently, it is expected the German team would make sure at some point in the season to leave the 39-year-old driver out of crucial meetings and stop giving him some valuable info.
However, as the Briton explained to the media in Italy, this moment hasn't come so far. Asked whether he is still fully involved in the development, he said:

"Yeah, I am still. Nothing's changed. We're still having our big meetings back at the factory. I'm still fully enjoying working with everyone and having the discussions, and the team has been really, really great."

"I am massively respectful, and I'm here trying to help this team progress this year and also into next year. The things that I am working on, I'm like, 'these are the things you've got to probably have for next year.'"

Of course, Hamilton wants to be competitive, but as Mercedes can't catch up with its rivals, it might be in the seven-time World Champion's interest to also stop giving the team his best advice.
He seems to be aware of that, but the British driver added that he truly wants the German team (which he has been with for 12 years) to make progress and succeed.

"Maybe I shouldn't be doing that, but I want the team to excel and succeed regardless of whether I am here or not."
