Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton recently talked to media about next year's Mercedes car.
Mercedes made a bit of an error at the beginning of the 2022 season when new technical regulations were set for the development of the Formula One car.
The team created a concept that apparently worked well in a wind tunnel. However, as soon as it was put on the track, the car would start bouncing "like crazy."
On the other hand, Red Bull racing came with a much better concept, which helped the team secure championships in seasons 2022 and 2023.
All of the remaining teams, sooner or later, started imitating the Red Bull car concept, and Mercedes was one of the last to do so. Lewis Hamilton is still not entirely happy with the car but has hopes for the next year, as he told the media recently:
"This car is going to bounce for the rest of the year. But I feel optimistic for next year that it won't be a characteristic on the car. It comes and goes - some races, it isn't bouncing, and some races, it is. But it is nowhere near as hardcore as when we had it [last year]."
Mercedes chief engineer recently said Mercedes is prepared to defend the second position in the Championship this season, and so the team has some upgrades in the pipeline to do so.
Hamilton remains optimistic as he thinks the process for communication between drivers and engineers back at the factory is better than ever before.
"We will continue to have that, and I think we have a better process than we have ever had before, so it is much more engaging for George and I.
The seven-time world champion says Mercedes drivers will continue closely working with their engineers to the end of the year and puts hopes into his team.
"We will continue to do that to the end of the year, and other than that... we give everything all the way to the end of the year, and then we've got to let the guys go and do what they do best."
