Lewis Hamilton shared his excitement over the first race of the 2025 F1 season returning to Australia, which used to host season openers for a long time.
The
Australian Grand Prix used to be the opening race of the F1 season for a very long time until COVID-19 hit in 2021. As Australia couldn't organize the race back then, it was moved to
Bahrain, where it stayed for four seasons, 2021-2024.
Consequently, it will return to Australia, which excited the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. As quoted by Planet F1, he said:
"I love this track and this race. It was always the best first race of the season, so it's exciting to hear that this is the first one next year—it just takes me back to when I first started."
"I love being here. I've always enjoyed the trip over, often when you did two flights in one bulk it was pretty intense, but I, over the years, started to break it off with a trip to Malaysia with Petronas."
The Australian Grand Prix takes place in Melbourne at
Albert Park Circuit. It is a semi-street circuit located in Albert Park, as you can tell by its name.
This track is almost guaranteed to provide fans with incredible racing action every single year, and it is also the circuit where the 39-year-old
Mercedes driver had his F1 debut. He added:
"Beautiful, and the weather's been great. So going out and running down the canal and the city has been amazing…and the track is just so exciting."
"And we've got a much better weekend. The whole paddock setting is probably one of the nicest in most of the calendar, and the track is really challenging, and it's where we had my first Grand Prix."
