1996 Formula One World Champion Damon Hill predicted three drivers he believes will stand on the podium during this week's race weekend at
Imola Circuit.
F1 moves into the second quarter of the 2024 season with this year's first European race, the
Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Last year's race had to be skipped because of the floods in the region.
However, this year, everyone and everything is ready for a great show, which is what we expect, especially after the most recent race in Miami.
Lando Norris won the first race of his career at
Miami International Autodrome and is hungry for many more. While
McLaren has been the biggest threat to Red Bull during the last two race weekends,
Ferrari might also join in.
The Italian team plans to introduce its first significant upgrade this season, and expectations are very high. Both drivers and the
Scuderia team principal hinted they plan to race for wins with this new upgrade.
Everything suggests we are in for an exciting race weekend in Italy this week. Asked for his podium predictions, Damon Hill confirmed he also believes we are looking at a three-way battle at Imola. He told the F1 Nation Podcast.
"You're going to ask me for a prediction? I think Lando's [Norris] on a high, but I don't think he can beat Max [Verstappen], I think it's Max, I think one of the Ferraris is going to do well. I think it will be Charles [Leclerc] and then Lando.
Will the Dutchman reestablish his dominance in Imola? Will Norris get his second career win, or could we see a fourth different winner in the seventh Grand Prix race of the season? Only five days remain until we find out.
