Franco Colapinto's manager, Maria Catarineu, discussed the latest news in relation to the 21-year-old's chances of appearing on the F1 grid in 2025.
Franco Colapinto, who replaced Logan Sargeant in Williams after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, showed he has what it takes to secure a spot on the grid for next year,
earning 5 points in six Grand Prix weekends.
While there is only one empty seat left - in VCARB, a report from
Motorsport.com said that Red Bull leaders
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are potentially interested in the Argentinian. The only thing they can't agree on is which team to place him in.
Red Bull owns both VCARB / RB and Red Bull Racing and has the power to remove, add, or rotate drivers between their two teams.
Sergio Perez - from Red Bull Racing has not been delivering desired performances for Red Bull for quite a few race weekends now (he scored only 20 points since the summer break), and both Horner and Marko
won't confirm his place in the F1 team for 2025.
Could Franco Colapinto potentially replace the Mexican driver in Red Bull? His manager, Maria Catarineu from Bullet Sports Management, told Argentinean television station Campeones TV:
This would have to be confirmed by Williams. I know James has said to various media outlets that he is in talks with various teams. It would have to be Williams who would have to say with which teams they are negotiating.
“It is clear that many scenarios are being worked out. But what people need to know is that there is a strong desire on many sides for Franco to continue in F1 in 2025.
Catarineu could neither confirm nor deny interest specifically from Red Bull Racing. There were some speculations that Colapinto has already signed a contract with some F1 team, but the manager dismissed these.
"What is certain is that right now, we are with Williams, and we are still with Williams. It's no secret as you have seen, that there is a very big will for Franco to continue in F1 in 2025""
"I want to deny the rumors that there is something signed for next year. We are currently still with Williams at the moment."
"Williams are the first ones to know that Franco deserves to stay in F1 and they are trying to make it happen. But nothing has been signed, and I can't confirm anything."
Interestingly, when Catarineu was asked to rate the possibility of Franco Colapinto being involved in F1 in 2025 on a scale of one to ten, she asserted a lot of confidence in the 21-year-old finding a spot:
"20 (out of ten). I think when so many people put so much intention into making something happen, it would be fair that it ends up happening."
