Aston Martin's spokesperson denied the most recent rumors about Max Verstappen being set to join their F1 team in 2026 for $1,2 billion.

Wild rumors about Max Verstappen potentially joining Aston Martin broke out in the media on Thursday, January 16th, 2025.

Daily Mail and Motor Sport both wrote that their sources reliably informed them about Aston Martin’s managing director of commercial and marketing, Jefferson Slack, trying to lure investors, suggesting Max Verstappen would join their F1 team for 2026.

The reports indicate a record-breaking £1 billion ($1,2 billion) deal, which would be the biggest deal not only in Formula 1 but in the history of sport. It is also suggested that Verstappen would "almost certainly" get some equity in the F1 team as well.

The four-time world champion has been linked to a potential move to Aston Martin or Mercedes in the past, but he ultimately asserted that he wasn't interested in changing teams at the moment. He said:

"It is not like I need to try to win the World Championship somewhere else. That is not a desire from my side. I am just happy where I am at."
"And it would also be very beautiful if you just could stay with one team and race there forever. I would like to believe [that could be with Red Bull]. That is the target."

Considering the 27-year-old's previous statements, it would be strange for him to decide to change teams in 2026 before the 2025 season even starts. But then, we've seen a similar thing with Lewis Hamilton in 2024.

However, Aston Martin's spokesperson dismissed all the speculation, saying the F1 team "categorically denies" the rumors that emerged over the last few days.

GPblog reported that they approached Max Verstappen's camp with all the latest rumors, and received a very short response: "That's nice."
