Charles Leclerc took the fastest lap of the interrupted morning session of the second day of pre-season testing in Bahrain.
The second day of the pre-season testing in Bahrain was off to a smooth start. All teams got their drivers on the track and worked through their plans for the day.
However, the testing was interrupted by a red flag about 2 hours and 10 minutes into the session. It was caused by a broken piece of curb on entry into the turn number 11. It is said to be a loose drain cover.
Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc drove over it, which might have damaged the floors of their cars. The session was canceled after 15-30 minutes of inspection.
Consequently, the lunch break was moved an hour earlier, and the afternoon session will be extended by one hour as it will start an hour earlier. Instead of 15:00 local time (GMT +3), it will begin at 14:00 local time.
Sergio Perez had a slight problem with overheating breaks less than ten minutes into the session and had to pull into the pits to get it fixed. As reported, his right break momentarily caught on fire inside the pits.

It took around half an hour before the problem was fixed, and the Mexican driver then continued with his session but only completed 20 laps altogether before it was interrupted by a red flag.
Mercedes tested two different configurations of rear wings. The back-to-back comparison should help the team determine which works better in the current conditions.
Mercedes tested a new configuration of rear wing (left) for the first time this morning, before reverting back to the wing they ran yesterday (right). I imagine they’re doing a back-to-back comparison of them to see which works best with their new push-rod rear suspension.
Many of the drivers were scheduled to exchange with their teammates in the seats of their cars for the evening session. However teams might want to change that because the ones in the morning got effectively only two hours of track running.
