F1 team principal Toto Wolff said farewell to Lewis Hamilton with one final message in the end-of-year video.
On December 25th, the Mercedes F1 team shared a video from their team principal, Toto Wolff, on social media summarizing and concluding the 2024 season with one final message.
In this video, Wolff outlined the new chapter that awaits Mercedes in 2025 and closed the partnership with Lewis Hamilton with a few heartwarming words.
"Next year marks the start of an exciting new chapter in our team's story. With George and Kimi we are excited for what is ahead, as two of our junior program graduates form the youngest driver line-up on the grid. But that is next year."
"To end this year I want to also reflect on the amazing 12-year journey we've had with Lewis. Much has been said and written already. We've had an emotional weekend in Abu Dhabi, where Lewis delivered one final World Champion's drive in a Silver Arrow.
Although the race weekend in Abu Dhabi started horribly for Lewis Hamilton when an unlucky incident with a bollard destroyed his qualifying, the seven-time world champion managed to make the most of the circumstances and said goodbye with an incredible final drive on Sunday.
Starting from P16, Hamilton gradually made his way through to the final P4, even finishing ahead of his teammate George Russell, who started from P6. Wolff continued:
"That brought the curtain down on the most successful driver-team partnership in history. Records shattered, and so many memories were made all along the way."
The seven-time world champion achieved six of his titles with the Silvers Arrows, he won 84 Grand Prix races with the German F1 team and helped them secure a record-breaking eight consecutive Construcrors' titles. Wolff added:
"Despite not delivering a final title together, the legacy will live on, and Lewis will always be part of our family. As I said over the radio on that cool-down lap, if we cannot win, we truly hope you do."
