Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton compared his Mercedes to "sitting in a sauna with no shorts on" after the second practice session on Friday. Here is what he had to say about it.
Being an F1 driver is the dream job of many, but not by any means the easiest job in the World. The seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton was reminded of that during the second practice session on Friday.
During the FP2 session, he complained on the team radio multiple times about his seat being steaming hot. It was over 30 degrees at Monza Circuit, so it would make sense that it was much hotter than at the previous circuits.
However, the way Lewis Hamilton repeatedly complained made it clear that it had to be some uncommon problem. What was it? Here is what the 39-year-old Formula 1 driver had to say about it after the second practice session ahead of the 2024 Italian Grand Prix.
"It was ridiculously roasting in our car. I am not quite sure exactly [why]. Down by the radiator it was probably some leakage of hot air."

Asked to further illustrate for F1 fans what he would compare this hot feeling to, Hamilton came up with quite an amusing but, at the same time, disturbing analogy.
"It was very hot. Like sitting in a sauna with no shorts on, sort of pain."
For a long time, Hamilton was the only one complaining about this problem because his teammate George Russell wasn't even on track. He was waiting for it to be repaired after Kimi Antonelli's FP1 crash.
However, as soon as the 26-year-old went out on track, he started complaining about the exact same issue on his team radio, not knowing that Hamilton was experiencing it as well.
Fortunately for the two Mercedes drivers, their teams seemed to have fixed the issue ahead of the FP3 session, and there was no more complaining on the radio about the seat being too hot afterwards.
