Max Verstappen has dominated Formula One in the past few seasons, but his dominance hasn't been celebrated like that of some other athletes.
Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Usain Bolt have all been incredibly dominant in their respective sports in some points in their careers, or in some cases even throughout the career.
The Dutch driver has enjoyed his dominant years in the past two seasons, but Verstappen's dominance is seemingly perceived differently among F1 fans than that of the likes of Woods and Federer.
According to the Daily Express, former F1 driver, Johnny Herbert talked about the topic, comparing the dominance of Verstappen, who
recently won the Japanese Grand Prix, to that of legendary golf player Tiger Woods.
"When Tiger Woods was at the top of his game, we all enjoyed it. His skill levels were phenomenal. We could see it and it was fascinating to watch every shot he made."
"He was way ahead of the field. Everybody enjoyed that and in the same way, they should enjoy Max. He is unbelievable. It is up to the other teams to provide a package that their drivers can have to challenge him."
Despite the Dutchman's dominance, Herbert reminds that behind the 26-year-old driver, the rest of the field is very close, possibly closer than it ever was.
There are many drivers who are fighting for the podium in every race, but that is often overlooked because of the Dutch driver's dominance.
"But behind Max, it is very tight between the other drivers with only about two or three-tenths of a second down to about eight or ninth place. But there is this one man who is so dominant."
"Roger Federer was the same at his peak. It is a skill and you can’t take away from that and say that it is boring."
