Max Verstappen shared his thoughts about the fan theories that emerged during the summer break, suggesting that Red Bull has been using an "illegal braking system."
The FIA (F1's regulatory body) tightened its regulations on braking systems during the summer break following the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix.
This change in regulations came roughly at the same time as Red Bull Racing suddenly started struggling, which prompted online speculation about whether the team from Milton Keynes had been using an asymmetrical braking system.
The FIA later denied that this rule change would be introduced because of an F1 team using an asymmetrical braking system, and multiple people from inside Red Bull Racing also dismissed all the speculations.
Max Verstappen was one of the people who already previously asserted that Red Bull hasn't used the braking system that FIA has banned, and he recently told Motorsport.com:
"People always come up with different stuff. I find it really bizarre how they come up with some of these things, but it is what it is. It's part of the game, but I usually just let it go."
"I've been in F1 for 10 years now and I'm not wasting time on all those stories. I mean, I barely read anything about F1 anyway."
While the triple World Champion tries to avoid reading the news related to Formula 1, some of his friends or family don't, and the 27-year-old admitted he then receives messages from them about the latest breaking news.
"Of course, sometimes I see something or someone else tells me: 'Did you see what this and that person said?'"
"But I always say people can think what they want, I'm not going to waste my energy on that. So, I don't really care about what other people say."
Red Bull claims the cause of their sudden struggles was a new upgrade package introduced in Miami or at the Spanish Grand Prix. The Austrian team plans to fix all the problems with another upgrade package at the 2024 United States Grand Prix.
