McLaren's team principal, Andrea Stella, pinpointed Max Verstappen's battles with Lewis Hamilton that "weren't addressed properly" as a cause for an accident in the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix.
McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris didn't finish the 11th round of the season at Red Bull Ring due to a collision with Max Verstappen seven laps before the end of the race.
The Dutchman came across the track to defend Norris on the entry into turn three but didn't leave him enough space on the outside, which resulted in a weird collision.
While the triple World Champion refused to take responsibility for the collision, speaking to the media right after the race, Lando Norris saw it as a clear mistake on the Dutchman's side.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix, the team principal of the Papaya team, Andrea Stella, also asserted the incident was clear fault on Verstappen's side:

"I see that the entire population in the world know who is responsible except for a group of people [Red Bull]. But the problem behind it is that if you don't address these things, honestly, they will come back."

Having said that, the McLaren team principal suggested what we've seen in Austria is a reflection of incidents between the Red Bull Racing driver and Lewis Hamilton from 2021 that weren't "properly addressed:

"They have come back today because they were not addressed properly in the past when there were some fights with Lewis."

"That needed to be punished in a harsher way like this. You learn how to race in a certain way, which we can consider fair and square."

The triple World Champion received a ten-second time penalty, but in the end, it changed nothing about his final result as he crossed the finish line far ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in P6. Stella added:

"[There have been] many episodes. The fact is that we have so much respect for Red Bull, so much respect for Max."

"They don't need to do this. They don't need to do this as a way to almost compromise your reputation. Why would you do that?"
