Carlos Sainz will have to look for a new team for the 2025 season, and he has shared his plans during F1 pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Drivers are currently driving around the Bahrain International Circuit during a three-day official pre-season testing, and with that, they also got to talk to the media about everything that happened during the off-season.
One of those was Lewis Hamilton's surprising signature with Ferrari. The seven-time World Champion signed with the Italian team and that left Sainz without a seat for the 2025 season.
Many sources suggest that the Spanish driver may join the new Audi project, but right now, his future is very uncertain. One spot will be left in Mercedes after Hamilton's departure, but that move is highly unlikely.
On Day 2 of the testing, Sainz was by far the fastest man on track and that's a good marketing for him in a time when he'll need to attract other teams. Speaking to media in Bahrain, the 29-year-old hinted at what may be his next steps.
"[I am] looking for a project first that allows me to win and be performing as soon as possible. But also for sure looking at stability and how important stability is in a project in the medium to long term. To build a strong team and a team to understand the driver and the driver to understand the team."
The two-time Grand Prix winner doesn't want to rush his decision, and he wants to take his time in a search for a new F1 team or a new project. On top of that, he has some requirements and ideas about what he wants to do.
"So with those two things in mind and those two things that you need to put into the equation, I will take my decision, taking my time accordingly."
