Carlos Sainz, whose contract expires at the end of the current season, revealed that he's in talks practically with every single team on the grid.
Right after the end of the most recent season, Carlos Sainz told the media he wanted to have his contract for the 2025 seasons solved before the first race of 2024.
As we know,
the situation didn't turn out the way he expected, and four race weekends into the 2024 season, Sainz still doesn't have the security of a sure seat for 2025.
On the other hand, with the performance that he has shown in
Bahrain and
Australia, there are no worries that we won't see the Spaniard on the grid next year; the only question is where.
Asked about the progress of his negotiations ahead of the 2024
Japanese Grand Prix at
Suzuka Circuit, the 29-year-old said:
"I mean, talking obviously to a few because that's what my management team and myself should do when I don't have a job for next year yet. So, yeah, talking, we're talking to pretty much all of them."
Alex Albon recently suggested that all drivers talk pretty much to all of the teams to see what their options are and also to have some negotiating power. Sainz continued:
"It's just a matter of obviously going more into detail and seeing the more realistic options and what are the best options for me and for my future, which I don't have any news for you or nothing to say here today."
The 29-year-old would love to go to a team that could offer him a car that is capable of competing for the Championship in the next few years.
There currently seem to be three such teams-
Mercedes,
Red Bull, and
Aston Martin. The problem is that neither of these is in a hurry, and neither said Sainz would be their number one priority. The
Ferrari driver added:
"The only thing I would say is that, yeah, obviously it's time now to speed up a bit everything and hopefully we can get it sorted sooner rather than later."
