Sergio Perez, who collided with Liam Lawson during the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, suggested the rookie doesn't have the right attitude for F1.

Sergio Perez collided with a driver from Red Bull's sister team, VCARB - Liam Lawson, on lap 18 during the 20th round of the season in Mexico City - his home race.

The collision resulted in significant damage to the Mexican's car, which ultimately destroyed all of his hopes of making at least some progress further up the order as he lost too much performance.

When the two met on the track 23 laps later - on lap 41, Lawson felt like the Red Bull Racing F1 driver blocked him on purpose for half a lap to destroy his race as well.

In the heat of the moment, the VCARB driver showed Perez a middle finger as he overtook him on the main straight. He apologized for this gesture after the Grand Prix.

This Grand Prix didn't make Lawson the most favorite person among other drivers. Both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc complained when he didn't get out of their way under blue flags, and he also had a collision with Franco Colapinto (for which Colapinto received a penalty).

Speaking to the media after the Grand Prix, Sergio Perez also pointed out how Lawson upset Fernando Alonso during the previous race in Austin, suggesting he isn't showing the right attitude.

"When a two-time world champion was saying things last weekend, he completely ignored him. It's like when you come to Formula 1, you're obviously very hungry and so on, but you have to be respectful as well, off-track and on-track."
"I don't think he's showing the right attitude. I think he's a great driver, and I hope for him that he can step back and learn from it."
"In his first two grands prix he has had many incidents. I think there will be a point where it can cost him too much like it did this weekend."
"I just think that he has to have the right attitude to say: 'Look, probably I'm overdoing it a little bit; I will step back and start again.' Because if you don't learn from your mistakes, Formula 1 is a brutal world and he might not continue."
