McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris suggested he would like Red Bull to run out of good ideas so his team can catch up.
Despite their latest misfortune in Australia, Red Bull remains the favorite for the rest of the season, mainly for this week's race in Japan.
The Suzuka Circuit has previously suited the characteristics of Red Bull cars well, and it's one of Max Verstappen's favorite circuits. In 2023, the Dutchman humiliated all the competition during the Japanese Grand Prix.
However, he was able to do it mainly because he had the pace advantage in his car. Though Lando Norris would like to complicate his life, he suggests it will be challenging for any of the teams to catch up in the development battle.
"They're just as smart, smarter in many ways, that if they do just as good of a job as any other team, they should always carry the advantage that they have, but you do hope that they start to run out of good ideas."
The 24-year-old previously stated he doesn't expect significant changes in the pecking order before 2026 because it should be relatively easy for Red Bull to maintain their advantage.
On the other hand, he thinks all of the teams are slowly getting closer and is especially "very happy" with the job McLaren has done over the last 12 months.
"I think every team is catching up. Even if you look at our 12 months of progress from last year, we've been the team who have developed the most and we're the best developing team over the last 12 months."
"So, when you look at it from that perspective, I think we can be very happy with the job that we're doing. But it's not enough and it's not close enough to challenge them."
