Zak Brown discussed the race that was added to the 2023 Formula One calendar as the third race in the United States.
In 2023, we have seen three races in the United States during a single season after a very long time. The 1982 when F1 race took place at Long Beach, Detroit, and Las Vegas (Ceasars Palace).
This time, the races took place in
Austin,
Miami (which was added to the calendar in 2022), and the newly added
Las Vegas Strip Circuit in Las Vegas. Zak Brown wrote in his
end-of-the-season letter:
"It was great to have three successful races in the United States on the calendar, with Las Vegas joining the two other events in Miami and Austin."
Formula One keeps expanding,
and one of the best audiences to address is the United States. That is one of the main reasons we keep seeing new races in U.S..
The race in Austin takes place at a dedicated racing circuit -
Circuit of the Americas, and the remaining two races take place directly in the streets of Miami and Las Vegas.
"All three have a unique and distinct flavor, and while there were initial issues during Thursday evening’s practice session, the Vegas race weekend was ultimately a huge success."
Consequently, a Free Practice session was canceled, and the schedule was postponed,
for which promoters weren't prepared, and fans had to be kicked out of fan zones.
On the other hand, the race itself ended up being super exciting as it provided many overtakes and close battles between the drivers. Brown added:
"The race was arguably one of the most exciting of the season, and there was no doubt the cars looked absolutely spectacular as they roared down the Strip at over 200mph."
