Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz have been one of the most equally matched teammate pairs on the grid in 2024. See the complete comparison in the table below.
Team principals of the ten teams on the F1 grid recently rated the top ten drivers after the 2023 season. While both
Ferrari drivers made it to the list,
Charles Leclerc ranked in positions higher than Carlos Sainz.
The Monegasque driver finished two positions higher compared to his teammate even in the Drivers' Championship. However, the table below doesn't show Leclerc overtook Sainz in the Championship only during the last race of the season.
Scuderia Ferrari team missed the second place in the Constructors' Championship by three points because they struggled with reliability and a few driver errors that resulted in 8 retirements, five of which were Leclerc's.
The 26-year-old is said to be the fastest driver on the current F1 grid in terms of raw one-lap pace, and it showed as he outperformed Sainz most significantly during qualifying sessions.
Otherwise, the Ferrari duo has been very equally matched in all aspects. Carlos Sainz was the only driver outside of Red Bull to win a Grand Prix this season, so he has a better "best result" compared to his teammate despite having fewer podiums.
The Spanish driver recently highlighted his teammate's qualifying pace and ability to regain positions during the race as he
suggested they make a very good pair.
Ralf Schumacher suggested the Monegasque has more talent. On the other hand,
he said the Spaniard seems to be a "more rounded package."Both drivers have their contracts expiring at the end of the season 2024 and are currently in negotiations with their team over future seats.
Which one do you think is better and who do you believe will come out on top during this year's season? For a full 2023 comparison, see the table below.
