Jos Verstappen 'Extremely Proud' Of Max Verstappen's One Specific Trait

Jos Verstappen discussed one specific trait that makes him "extremely proud" of his son - Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen.

Four-time world champion Max Verstappen is known for his honesty. He does not mince words and always says exactly what is on his mind when asked a question.

The 27-year-old is quite a polarizing character both on and off the track. Some F1 fans love him for his personality, and some think that he is arrogant.

His father, Jos Verstappen, was asked in his latest interview with F1-Insider whether brutal honesty was something that was part of his son's upbringing, and he replied:

"I think so. He is not arrogant, but direct. Yes, always standing up for yourself was part of my upbringing. We always talk about role models for young people."

"I ask now: What is more of a role model? If you act behind people's backs or openly say what you think and always stand by your personal values?"

"I can only say: How Max behaves in public, how he bluntly says his opinion - that makes me just as extremely proud of my son as his sporting successes."

The four-time world champion received a lot of criticism for his aggressive driving style in 2024, mainly after incidents with Lando Norris in Austria and Mexico City.

Some fans think this on-track behavior also translates into Max Verstappen's personality off-track, but his father says that could not be further from the truth.

"Many people don't know the real Max. On the track, he is unconditionally aggressive, and he has to be. But in private, he is a calm, extremely balanced, friendly soul."
