The seven-time World Champion
Lewis Hamilton suggested he is not holding anything back from
Mercedes and he explained why.
The last three race weekends of the season in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi will also be Lewis Hamilton's last three race weekends with Mercedes.
At the start of 2025,
the seven-time World Champion will officially join Ferrari, and his current F1 team will possibly become
one of his biggest rivals in the battle for the Championship title.
Some might consequently argue that it is not in the 39-year-old's interest anymore to try and move the German team forward with his feedback on how the car behaves on the track and so on.
However, Hamilton dismissed these suggestions when speaking to the media in Sao Paulo. When asked whether it doesn't feel odd to be gathering data for the team that he will leave after three Grand Prix races, he responded:
"I wouldn't say that it feels odd. Ultimately every bit of input that I put in now, along with George's [Russell], for example, is contributing to the development forwards."
"But that's the job. That's what I'm paid for. I'm not holding anything back from any class sessions."
"At the end of the day, this is the team that I've been successful with for many, many years and I want the team to continue to have success. That's just how I'm wired, that's how I am. Maybe other people will do a different thing."
Lewis Hamilton has been with Mercedes for 12 seasons (including 2024), which is longer than any other driver in F1 history has managed to stay with a single team.
The seven-time World Champion also achieved most of his success with Silver Arrows. 84 out of Hamilton's 105 victories came with Mercedes, as well as six out of his seven World Championship titles.
