Lewis Hamilton hopes to help his future team,
Ferrari, with inclusion and diversity in the team's garage and factory.
The seven-time World Champion is one of the most accomplished drivers, if not the most accomplished, in the history of Formula One. However, Hamilton's influence goes beyond the race track, as he's trying to influence others around him as well.
The British driver has a "Racing for All" program, which he also applied when creating
his own team in the Extreme E competition, and he's trying to help with inclusion also in F1.
After the pre-season testing at the
Bahrain International Circuit, the 39-year-old spoke to the media, and naturally, his surprising move to Ferrari, for which he will drive from 2025, was one of the most discussed topics.
When talking about the Italian team, Hamilton mentioned that he wants to continue spreading the word and helping with inclusion. The 103-time Grand Prix winner said that he's in a constant dialogue with F1's CEO, Stefano Domenicali, as he's trying to promote diversity on a global level.
"I think we are ahead of every other team in that respect, and there still is a huge amount of work within the whole sport, which I’m speaking [about] to Stefano [Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1] constantly and looking to work more with Formula 1."
On top of that, Hamilton is trying to make conditions even more even for everyone in
Mercedes, and he will try to bring the same mantra also to Ferrari, which, according to the Brit, still has work to do in this regard.
"And of course, you look at Ferrari, they have a lot of work to do, so I’ve already made that a priority in speaking with John [Elkann, Executive Chairman of Ferrari] and they’re super excited to get on and work on it also."
