Former Formula E driver Sacha Fenestraz suggested Max Verstappen himself admitted that he would be overshadowed by Oliver Rowland in F1.

Although Max Verstappen hasn't competed in many different motorsport series, he is generally considered one of the best drivers of all time due to his achievements in F1, the pinnacle of motorsport.

Verstappen recorded the most dominant season in Formula 1 history when he was 25/26 years old. He is already a triple World Champion and is on his way to perhaps winning his fourth consecutive title.

Earlier this year, NASCAR Champion Kyle Larson said he felt like he was a better all-around racer than the 27-year-old Red Bull F1 driver.

This statement triggered many (mostly F1) fans on social media, who suggested that NASCAR and driving in ovals could never be compared to Formula 1.

Now, former Formula E driver Sacha Fenestraz suggests that his teammate from last year, Oliver Rowland, can easily be on par with Max Verstappen. Fenestraz told Motorsport.com:

"I came into the season saying to myself 'I want to be the leader of the team, I want to beat him' but I think it was unrealistic because we are talking about Rowland, who was in his seventh season in Formula E."

Driving for the same team in 2023, Fenetraz scored 26 points and finished 17th at the end of the season, while Rowland scored seven podiums, two victories, 156 points, and finished fourth in the Championship.

"Me, at 24 years old [at the time], I don't have the same experience as a driver like him, and also, Oliver [who has been in Formula E for seven seasons] at his best is easily on a par with Verstappen."

Fenestraz suggested that Rowland is a great friend of Max Verstappen and that even the 27-year-old said that the Formula E driver would overshadow him if he came to F1.

"He's very good friends with Verstappen, and this year Verstappen was telling Oliver that it's a pity he's not in Formula 1 because he'd be overshadowing him, so people inside motorsport know the potential he has."
