F1 World Champion from the year 2009, Jenson Button, pinpointed two teams with "seriously strong Driver line-ups."
Formula One is currently packed with super-talented drivers. Current Formula One drivers are at such a high level that their teams are not interested in looking for new alternatives.
There are quite a few World Champions and super-strong drivers from rookie categories who are waiting to get a chance from any of the teams but just can't, as no team has a place for them.
In his recent interview with Sky Sports, Jenson Button talked about two teams he believes to have irreplacably strong driver lineups. He started with Mercedes:
“"There are some seriously strong driver line-ups. Mercedes, can't go past those two. I know Lewis [Hamilton], we were team-mates for three years, and for George [Russell] to get as close as he has to Lewis is impressive."”
While they haven't really been able to show what they've got with a car that couldn't match Red Bull in 2023, Mercedes is planning significant changes. We can't wait to see if Hamilton and Russell can get a faster car.
In terms of young talent, McLaren has the youngest driver duo with Oscar Piastri being 22 and Lando Norris 24 years old. However, their age does not take away from their talent and skill.
“"But in terms of the young guns at McLaren, super strong. Oscar [Piastri] with a year under his belt, he'll have more consistency going into the 2024 season."”
Both drivers have been incredibly strong during the season of 2023, and both of them still have a long way to go as they gain more experience in Formula One.
Last season has been the first year for Piastri, who has already been described as the best rookie since Verstappen, and Norris is said to have the potential to grow to the level of Verstappen and Hamilton.
