Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso recorded the fastest lap of the second Free Practice session at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The second free practice session ahead of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was delayed by ten minutes due to loose bolts on drain covers in the pit lane.

Unlike FP1 or FP3, this session was much more representative of track conditions that we will see during qualifying and the race because it took place at the exact same time.

Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton impeded Logan Sargeant on a flying lap in a very dangerous zone, which almost caused a collision, which was fortunately avoided.

However, the stewards noted that the seven-time World Champion had impeded the American driver, and the incident is supposed to be investigated after the session. He said on the team radio: "I didn't know someone was on a lap. I was trying to get out of the way of Sainz."

What's more, the 39-year-old reported losing power in his W15 during a flying lap five minutes before the end of the session.

His teammate, George Russell, complained about the stability of the high speed, which Silver Arrows will need to fix before qualifying on Friday. He, in turn, was impeded on a flying lap by Yuki Tsunoda when he got squeezed to the wall by the Japanese driver.

Sergio Perez complained about bouncing off his RB20. It is the same problem that Max Verstappen described during the FP1 session.

All drivers recorded their fastest lap on the soft compound tires. As is the case in every practice session, it is important to note that drivers' times are only indicative.

All teams try to use practice sessions to refine their setups and run different fuel loads, which significantly influences the performance of their cars.
