The evening session of the first day of Bahrain pre-season testing concluded with
Max Verstappen snatching the fastest lap time of the day.
The evening session of the first day of pre-season testing in Bahrain started at 12:00 GMT and ran until 16:00 GMT, and we've seen eight new drivers compared to the morning session.
Each team can only have one driver on the track at a time, so every team will always have only one driver per session.
There were ten drivers during the morning session, and the only two who didn't change with their teammates going into the evening were
George Russell and Max Verstappen.
Effectively, every single driver except for
Sergio Perez and
Lewis Hamilton, therefore, had a go behind the wheel of his car for the season 2024.
Most Interesting Points Of The Session:
Logan Sargeant completely lost his rear on the entry into turn 11 and slid off the track, spinning and almost hitting the wall. But fortunately, he was able to carry on without damage.
However, the triple World Champion couldn't let that slide and took the fastest lap back, almost one second faster than the one set by the Papaya driver.
Later on, Verstappen managed to improve his fastest lap even further and gapped the second-best Norris by 1,140 seconds.
Lance Stroll lost his left mirror on a bumpy straight as it fell off, and
Daniel Ricciardo, who was driving right behind him, proved he still has some incredible reactions at the age of 34 as he just dodged it.
