Red Bull F1 driver
Max Verstappen sent a message to
Ferrari president John Elkann in his recent interview.
Max Verstappen Accomplished this season what not many other F1 drivers in history did. The Dutchman won his third consecutive F1 title, joining the likes of Juan Manuel Fangio,
Michael Schumacher,
Sebastian Vettel, and
Lewis Hamilton.
After his most recent third consecutive title win at the 2023
Qatar Grand Prix, Verstappen did an interview with
La Gazzetta dello Sport where he said:
"I would like to have in my garage all the Red Bull cars with which I have won an F1 world championship."
The 26-year-old is currently the only driver on the grid who might have a chance to break Michael Schumacher's record of five consecutive wins, as he is on a streak of three already.
Curiously, it is also Michael Schumacher's last title-winning car F2004 that Flying Dutchman would like to have in his collection besides the three Red Bulls.
"In addition to Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2004, it is an incredible car. But I don’t know how I would buy it. This is an appeal to [Ferrari president] John Elkann; I hope he reads this interview and maybe calls me."
The F2004 was a machine that helped Scuderia Ferrari prolong its streak of six Constructors' Championships and 5 Drivers' Championships.
F2004 was also the car that allowed Ferrari to win 15 out of 18 races of the season 2004. Some might compare the dominance of the Ferrari to the 2023 Red Bull's car, RB19.
Verstappen seems really interested in the car as he mentioned he hopes that Ferrari president John Elkann would call him. Interestingly, one more Red Bull World Champion was interested in the exact car in the past.
The four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel said he once tried to buy the F2004, "but it was way too expensive." Who knows, maybe Verstappen, with his estimated net worth of over $72 million, could afford it.
