According to the F1 presented, Lawrence Barretto and
Daniel Ricciardo are the most likely replacements for
Sergio Perez after 2024 at this moment.
Sergio Perez has had an unsuccessful 2023 season during which he hasn't really convinced his team management about his qualities.
While Christian Horner claims Red Bull is open to extending the contract with the Mexican driver in case he is able to improve his performances in comparison to Verstappen, many believe we won't see Perez in
Red Bull beyond 2024.
The double World Champion Mika Hakkinen recently said he believes Red Bull will need two strong drivers moving forward as other teams attempt to close the gap, and it is
highly unlikely they would choose to continue with Perez.
Red Bull's team principal suggested they have a great pool of drivers to choose from when it comes to their second seat, as the team from Milton Keynes is currently the most attractive on the grid.
The preferable choice for Red Bull would be to choose somebody from their own family. This includes drivers such as
Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, and
Liam Lawson.
According to Lawrence Barretto, Ricciardo will be the preferred driver if it comes to replacement of Perez. He wrote on F1's
official website:
"As it stands, it is believed Ricciardo tops senior management’s list of suitable replacements."
The Australian driver has been in Red Bull before, and he has proven his qualities while driving for the team from Milton Keynes. He also recently said it would be a dream for him to
get back into Red Bull and finish his career with the team.
Moreover,
about a month ago, rumors surfaced suggesting the Honey Badger might have a clause in his contract allowing him to be promoted from
AlphaTauri to Red Bull mid-2024 season if Perez couldn't improve. Would you like to see Ricciardo back with Red Bull?
