What would happen if
Sergio Perez lost his seat at
Red Bull? Where would he go? As it appears, there might be an alternative career path for the Mexican driver.
Sergio Perez is currently a driver of the Red Bull Racing team. The team principal,
Christian Horner, has
expressed support for the 33-year-old even after they "failed" the 2023 season.
Many speculated Red Bull would rather get rid of the Mexican driver than risk one driver underperforming during the 2024 season, but Perez has the trust of his team.
Moreover, the team principal suggested his team might be interested in keeping Checo if he can show
improvement in direct comparison to Max Verstappen.
Going into 2024, one possibility is that Perez will actually improve and make winning more challenging for his teammates, which Red Bull might like to see.
The other possibility is that the 33-year-old won't be able to improve, and he will yet again be beaten by the Dutchman by a considerable margin. What then?
It is suggested that
Daniel Ricciardo tops the list of potential replacements for Sergio Perez in Red Bull at this point in time. So if the Mexican driver was indeed replaced, where would he go?
Would Checo want to go and compete for a worse team? Would any of the teams actually be interested in the Mexican driver after watching Verstappen amass twice as many points as he did?
Well, even if any of the F1 team' wasn't interested in offering a seat to Perez, a new potential career path just opened up for him. Formula E chief Alberto Longo reportedly told AS:
"I talk to Checo constantly, and I hope he makes a leap to the real competition. (smiles) Formula E is his home, the doors are open to him and he is welcome."
Formula is becoming more and more popular, and as opposed to F1, the Championship battles are, in fact, much closer. Could we see Perez in Formula E in the future?
