'Never Thought He Would Raise The Bar Like He Did': Verstappen Hailed By Glock

Former F1 driver Timo Glock praised Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen following the MAXimized 2023 season.

Even though it seems like a long time ago, Max Verstappen won his third championship this season. The Dutchman still had six races to go when he had the title in his pocket.

But the 26-year-old did not stop there; he broke numerous impressive single-season records that we might not see anybody break for a long time.

Verstappen managed to exceed everybody's expectations with his exceptional speed and level of consistency. Timo Glock told RacingNews365:

"I never thought he would raise the bar like he did it this year. I mean, he was already very impressive last year, but it seems like he found a way to raise the game in every area again, the way he performed through the whole year."

Verstappen won the 2022 Championship by quite a comfortable gap of 146 points. In 2023, he broke the record for the biggest gap between the first and the second place in the Championship with a 290-point difference.

"Every weekend, he made the right decisions in terms of setup with his engineer, in terms of decisions, in terms of strategy, he knows exactly what to do to keep those tires alive, he's all the time on top of the game in terms of strategy."

Max Verstappen is the only driver on the grid who finished every single race in 2023, and remarkably, there wasn't a race where he would not score points.

No matter how we look at the 2023 season, it is hard not to mention the perfection in execution from Max Verstappen and his Red Bull Racing team. Glock concluded:

"He doesn't make any mistakes, if it's raining, or if it's dry, he seems to be on top of his game all the time. The most important and impressive thing is he didn't make any mistakes this year."
