The seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton gave insight into his mind and how he puts up with "difficult seasons" like 2023.

Mercedes F1 driver is currently in the tougher period of his career. Hamilton used to hold a record for achieving a win in every single season in his F1 career but has not scored a single win ever since the start of 2022.

While P3 in the Drivers' Championship is a great improvement from his last year's P6, it is still the second-worst result for the Mercedes drivers in his last ten seasons.

The seven-time World Champion revealed it is inevitable for an athlete to have doubts during challenging periods like this one. He told BBC:

"Ultimately, when you have difficult seasons like this, there are always going to be moments when you're like: 'Is it me, or is it the car? Do you still have it? Has it gone?'

The 38-year-old shares the record for the most F1 titles with Micheal Schumacher so one would assume he knows how it feels to be in that Championship winning mindset. However, Hamilton explains it is tougher to reach it when you are struggling.

"Because you're missing that, you know... when the magic happens, when everything comes together, the car and you, and that spark, it's extraordinary. And that's what you're in the search for."

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff recently said a bad race does not change anything about Hamilton "being the greatest driver in the world."

The seven-time World Champion obviously has a lot of people who still believe in him and support him on his way to the eighth World Championship title. Hamilton concluded by saying everybody has doubts about themselves, and that's normal.

"I'm only human. If anyone in the world tells you they don't have those things, they're in denial. We're all human beings."
