1992 Formula 1 Champion Nigel Mansell asserted Lewis Hamilton still has what it takes to win another Drivers' Championship title.
Lewis Hamilton can now officially be called a Ferrari driver because his contract with the Italian F1 team became effective on January 1st, 2025.
Hamilton's new teammate, Charles Leclerc, is believed to be a future world champion in the making and so many cannot wait for the interesting comparison between the two F1 drivers.
Following the Briton's surprising slump in qualifying performance in 2024, many pundits wondered whether the 39-year-old still had what it takes.
In the 30 qualifying sessions of 2024 (including sprint qualifying), Hamilton lost the head-to-head battle to George Russell 10-20. Now, he is supposed to face one of the best, if not the best, qualifiers on the grid.
Some F1 fans and experts consequently might believe that Lewis Hamilton comes to Ferrari as an underdog, however, Nigel Mansell warned these people are making a big mistake.
Not only does Mansell believe 2025 will be the year of resurgence for the seven-time world champion at Ferrari, but he also suggested that Hamilton easily has what it takes to win his eighth title with proper motivation. The 1992 Champion told Daily Mail:
"That is not to say Charles won't give him a run for his money and he has some weekends where he does everything perfectly."
"But you have to do it more consistently. Lots of people win races but putting championships together is a different story."
"I will go out on a limb and I will guarantee that, if Lewis can find his motivation, he has got another championship in him. Easily."
"Never say never in this game and [2025] should be very competitive. Ferrari have done a good job and I think it will be incredibly exciting."
